Spain cancels the conditions imposed on Sonatrach Project

The English government disavowed the English National Commission of Energy in the dispute between Sonatrach, according to English media quoted sources from the commission.
The resolution, which repudiates the conditions imposed by CNE on Sonatrach increased its share in the project company of Medgaz, was taken Thursday, July 19, the same day of the visit of the Minister Energy and Mines, Chakib Khelil, who was invited by his English counterpart, Joan Clos, Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism. The government considered that conditions imposed by CNE on Sonatrach are illegal or disproportionate, depending on the condition cited. The same source, the government, which had a period until Sept. 8 to respond to the application of Sonatrach, has decided to eliminate them in a resolution that calls into question the positions of the commission. In total, five conditions have been eliminated and two more relaxed. Some conditions were contradictory and others beyond the powers of the commission. Sources close to the government reported that on Thursday 19 July, a meeting was attended by English Minister of Industry, Joan Clos, Bernardino Leon, the English Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Chakib Khelil. The English side have agreed to eliminate the conditions of the CNE in exchange for sales that have not been made public. In the negotiation included the issue of gas prices in the contracts between Sonatrach and Gas Natural, the difference in the delay of the project Gassi Touil in which Gas Natural is also concerned, but also Repsol and Gas Natural's entry in Medgaz . For the price of gas, you should know that by giving its approval for the increase and then retracting a year later, the English company has already made a gain of $ 300 million loss and Sonatrach the same amount. But this sum, it can recover after the court had decided the Geneva dispute. Regarding the draft Gassi Touil, delays and increased project costs at the international level make it difficult for a unit of LNG in Arzew. This could be canceled or postponed. The partners in the project must make a decision within two months. According to another source, Gas Natural and Sonatrach are in negotiations for the entry of the English company in society Medgaz's project.
